This really awesome NECW event was kindly shared to Youtube by Tanya Cornell of TC Tapes, who at one point in time did all of NECW’s video work. This particular event, which took place 13 years ago this week, boasts a tremendous lineup as well. In the main event, it’s NECW Heavyweight Champion Bob Evans with manager Scott Dickinson by his side against a mystery challenger after scheduled opponent, Alex Arion, was forced out of the main event by NECW officials for not yet being medically cleared to wrestle after suffering an injury. Maverick Wild (who interestingly, is making a comeback right now, and will be working for NECW on November 1st), Zaquary Springate, III and Fred Curry Jr. in a Triads Match. The Egomaniacs (Mike Steele and Johnny Idol) vs. The Backseat Boyz (Trent Acid and Johnny Kashmere). Trance Springate (aka Isys Ephex) vs. Tarzan Taylor. J. Wood vs. Brian Jury (aka Brian Fury). Mercedes Martinez vs. Trinity H. Campbell. And lastly, Kurt Adonis vs. Debonair Cruz (aka Chi Chi Cruz).
A great lineup, tremendous show, I recommend you watch this great event in its entirety right here:
In this weeks episode of New England Championship Wrestling, we are treated to an excellent wrestling contest, a pure wrestling clinic you might say, between two of the most talented wrestlers in New England, NECW Heavyweight Champion Brad Hollister and his teacher, his mentor, former WWE superstar, Antonio “The Promise” Thomas. Thomas is considered by many to be one of the best scientific wrestlers around, especially in New England. A former NECW Heavyweight Champion, Thomas is one of the top unsigned professional wrestlers in the country. A highly underrated performer, arguably signed to a WWE contract a bit too early on in his career, Thomas was rushed to TV in 2005 as one half of the popular OVW tag team The Heart Throbs, where he teamed with Romeo Roselli, and was released from his WWE contract after a relative short stint on Monday Night Raw just ten months later. Given his work in recent years, I would like to see this much more polished version of Antonio Thomas receive an opportunity with a promotion like Ring of Honor for example, who would appreciate his style, or another national platform. Brad Hollister, who learned to wrestle under the tutelage of Thomas, is rapidly making a name for himself too, moving up the ranks in New England with impressive outings like the one featured here. Most notably, and mentioned during a heated sit down interview conducted by NECW’s Al Basler with he and Thomas in this episode, winning the prestigious NECW IRON 8 Championship this summer.
